AWESOME SCHOLARSHIP AWARD UPDATE Dear MOH Friends; Please loan me your imagination and try to envision the following scenario: You've grown up poor. Perhaps even very poor. You've watched family member after family member become discouraged; drop out of School and lose sight and all hope for a better future. But you've decided you're not going to continue that trend. Deep within your heart there's a flame. You're determined to not follow in the footsteps of those in your family before you. You've worked hard at everything you do. You try to be the best you can be at everything you attempt. You're determined to be that first person in your family to finish High School. In fact, you have even boldly dared to be that first person in your family to go to and graduate from College. But there's only one small problem. You desperately need help and someone to believe in you. My dearest Friends; the just mentioned scenario is a real life situation and day to day anxiety, for countless numbers of Students that are dreaming and hoping for a better future and for a little help and a hand up so their Hope can be fulfilled. At the Mission Of Hope, we have decided we HAVE to step up and help those Students; who want to better themselves and have a better life. We have decided at the Mission Of Hope that the only true way to break the cycle of poverty is through Education. Students have to graduate! Students have to obtain skills! And these Students have to be uplifted and encouraged that they can Graduate and that they can succeed! One very important way to uplift and assist young people who want to break their Families cycle of poverty and dependency is through financial assistance in obtaining an extended Education. We have recently created Scholarships at the 11 High Schools where the Students from the 25 Elementary Schools we serve; would eventually attend. Our Mission Of Hope Scholarship Committee has done an incredible job of developing the criteria and the process whereby we could begin these much needed Scholarships, for this year's High School Senior's. Each of the Applicants wrote extraordinary letters of compassionate appeal, which touched our hearts. Their situations are all desperate and even make you wonder why they keep going and what motivates them. Well, I would offer to you that it is simply HOPE - The Confident Expectation Of Good. We Need Your Help! We feel this is a positive news story in a current day to day environment filled with negativity and despair. But perhaps most importantly; this is an excellent opportunity to address breaking a multigenerational dilemma that: HAS TO STOP! Through our appeals over the years, we have been blessed when Mission Of Hope Friends have stepped up and helped us fulfill our visions; for how we can truly make a difference in the lives of those we are so privileged to serve. The establishment of our Mission Of Hope Scholars Program, represents perhaps one of the most effective and life changing avenues of ministry; that we have ever attempted. Would you help us extend the Hope through Education and give a Student that still dares to dream a chance? I humbly and sincerely that you from the heart, on behalf of all of us here at The Hope; for your friendship and support. One last thought to share with you. We are in the process of awarding all 11 of our first ever Mission Of Hope High School Scholarships. The excitement and sincere gratitude that each of the recipients has shown to us; is just another affirmation of this much needed new arm of ministry. It is a blessing to see how these moments may be the start of something in these Students lives that they had only dreamed of, until now. Just think; what if this is the seed for them that breaks their families history of despair. Now they can experience the joyous and incredible feeling of Hope Fulfilled.
